Rooted in India's Living craft traditions
"A craft remains alive only when people choose to keep it alive together.
At Ori Artisan we try to ensure these traditions remain alive & evolve with modern relevance."
Ori Artisan is a Singapore-based textile studio working at the intersection of heritage craft and contemporary design. Our collections are developed through research into historic Indian textiles and translated into limited-edition textile objects using traditional dyeing and printing techniques.
Developed in collaboration with master artisan Brij Ballabh Udaiwal, a Presidential Awardee from Sanganer, each piece carries forward generations of traditional knowledge.
Ori Artisan is supported by RangRakha Center for Living Heritage Crafts, a craft knowledge and collaboration platform dedicated to the documentation, revival, and innovation of the Geographical Indication (GI) tagged craft of Sanganeri Hand-block printing.
CRAFT PROCESSNatural Dye Systems
Textiles at Ori Artisan are created through a slow, layered process of hand block printing and natural dyeing. From start to finish, each piece can take two to three weeks to complete depending on the complexity of design. Discover the process here behind the making of our textiles.
TRACEABILITY
All are textiles are authenticated by RangRakha Center, Sanganer. Every ORI Collectible piece is traceable and comes with a unique QR Code. Find the code on the tag and scan it to discover the Artisan, the process and stories behind the making of that piece.
